Welcome to the Real World

I can't stand it when stay-at-home moms complain about days off from school ruining their "regular schedule..."

My younger daughter had a friend over today. Her mom dropped her off, and we were chatting at the door. Her younger daughter had also come along, and wanted to run upstairs to see my daughter's new hamster (yes, I broke down...). So we were chatting while her younger daughter was upstairs.

This mom is married to a dentist, who must do quite well because he can afford to have tv commercials on local television. She complains about today being a day off from school, wrecking her usual day of cleaning the house (bummer...). Then she notices that we still have our artificial tree up.

I make weak excuses: I got sick before New Year's Eve, and was sick right up til school starting in January. I have been busy with meetings and classes after school. This is all true. And it makes me mad that I feel I must explain myself.

This woman will never understand my real world.
